Google has decided to provide Android users with a better experience when using its Google Text-to-Speech application, and it has updated it with support for a series of new languages and with other improvements as well.

In fact, one of the most important of them is said to be higher-quality voices for English US and English UK, as a recent article on Android Authority explains.

According to the news site, the release notes for the new app iteration (available as version 3 now) show that users can enjoy high-quality Female voice for English US. Moreover, there are three new voices available for English UK, namely Male, Female (high-quality), and Male (high-quality).

In terms of file sizes, the new features are huge compared to the regular versions. For example, the English US Female (high-quality) weighs 244MB, and not only 6.8MB as the regular variant.

At the same time, the updated application brings along support for Brazilian Portuguese and United States Spanish, which increases the total number of supported languages to nine (German, English UK, English US, Spanish ES, French, Italian, and Korean were already available).

On top of that, the updated Google Text-to-Speech iteration comes with a series of small cosmetic changes in the settings UI, it seems. Users interested in taking the new features for a spin should head over to Settings > Language & Input > Text-to-speech output.

To grab the Google Text-to-Speech application, head over to the Google Play store. The software is available with support for Android 4.0.3 and up devices.
