Yesterday, Google made official some new numbers regarding its Android mobile operating system, including the fact that users can now access over 1 million applications through the Play Store portal.

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president at Google, confirmed this, while also claiming that the app store has already reached 50 billion downloads, and that the developer revenue grew 2.5 times per user when compared to the last year.

Another interesting piece of information that he shared with the public was the fact that activations of Android tablets are expected to reach 70 million by the end of this year, compared to only 10 millionregistered in 2012, as Cnet reports.

Also yesterday, Google announced a new version of the Nexus 7 tablet PC, one that packs significantly improved hardware over last year’s model.
