It looks like Google has just updated Google Maps app for Android devices with a minor feature that will allow users to download different versions according to their phones' screen size.

According to the application's changelog, Google “reduced app storage size with downloads for different screen resolutions.”

However, the folks over at AndroidGuys found out that Google Maps has also been updated with support for NFC (Near Field Communication) for Android Beam, which one of the new features introduced by the latest Ice Cream Sandwich operation system.

As soon as users agree to update the application, they will be prompted to allow Google Maps to control Near Field Communication.

For those unfamiliar with the new features of Android 4.0, Android Beam allows users to share apps, maps, web pages and more by simply tapping their devices together.
