Google has just updated its Gmail application for iOS devices. The long-awaited “swipe between messages” feature has finally been added, along with some tweaks and bug fixes.

With the latest version of Gmail, users will be able to swipe left or right to move between messages without having to return to the Inbox.

Aside from that, Google added a few more possible actions that users can take on multiple messages. For example, selecting a message in the Inbox now enables edit mode, allowing users to tap on messages to select them and then choose to archive, delete, or more.

These actions can now be accessed directly from the new actions bar. There's also a new Cancel option that can be chosen at any time to leave edit mode.

Gmail 2.1 is now available as a free download via App Store and it should be fully compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices running iOS 5.0 and up. Check it out here.
