Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was launched more than a year ago with Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system onboard.

Although the South Korean company promised an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be available for the Galaxy Tab 8.9, Samsung has yet to deliver yet live.

According to the latest hearsay, the tablet is expected to receive the long awaited Android 4.0 update in mid-August in Canada, though the timeframe may be different in other regions.

Anyway, Indian customers will be happy to know that the slate's price has been slashed a bit. Known as Samsung Galaxy Tab 730 is now available in India for Rs 21,999 (400 USD or 325 EUR) via Flipkart.

However, we expect Samsung to lower the price of its older tablets even more, once new Jelly Bean devices are making their way into the market.
