Recently, chip maker Qualcomm unveiled to the world a new mobile processor aimed at high-end smartphones out there, namely the Snapdragon 805, and the company has already confirmed that devices powered by it will be launched in May this year.

The chipset, announced as the next step in the evolution of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 CPU lineup, will be able to deliver increased performance levels, courtesy of increased frequency of its cores, new graphics, and the like, rbmen reports.

Moreover, the CPU will offer increased bandwidth, with support for up to 25.6GB/s, and promises no less than 40 percent better performance capabilities when compared to the previous Snapdragon 800 processors.

Snapdragon 805 will also open the door towards the encoding and decoding of 4K videos on mobiles. Unfortunately, Qualcomm did not provide specific info on which devices will bring the new CPU to the market.
