Owners of Windows Phone handsets will be able to enjoy Kabam games on their devices starting with the next year, the company has officially confirmed.

Apparently, the developer has decided to expand the reach of its titles to Microsoft’s mobile platforms, and will bring them to tablets too, in addition to smartphones.

A nice range of games will be ported to Windows Phone, including Fast & Furious 6: The Game, Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon, and The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth, a recent article on Venture Beat reads.

“Kabam’s goal is to be the free-to-play games leader across all mobile platforms,” said Kent Wakeford, chief operating officer of Kabam.

“Collaborating with Microsoft to put Kabam games on Microsoft mobile devices is a further step toward Kabam’s platform ubiquity.”

Windows Phone has managed to attract a lot of users in the past few years, and is currently the third largest mobile operating system out there, trailing Android and iOS.

However, the mobile platform is growing fast, and is expected to get closer to becoming the second most popular OS on smartphones, dethroning iOS in the next several years.

According to IDC, Windows Phone enjoyed an annual growth of 91 percent in 2013, and should see a compound annual growth rate of 28.1 percent from 2013 to 2018.

The deal with Kabam will further strengthen Windows Phone’s position on the mobile market, since it still doesn’t have as many apps and games to offer to its users as the rival Android and iOS do.
