Facebook has just updated its Android client with new features and bug fixes. Although it's one of the most popular social apps in the Google Play store, most users have been complaining the Android version is inferior to iOS variant.

Today, the application received some new messaging features, such the ability to create messages and adding friends to existing group conversations.

In addition, developers also added shortcuts to share photos and messages directly from the home screen. The new shortcuts are now available in the Android app tray, one for the Camera, and the other for Messenger.

Last but not least, the overall performance of the application has been improved and various bugs have been fixed, though Facebook devs have yet to unveil any details on this.

Facebook 1.9 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all device running Android 1.6 and up.
