Samsung is about to launch another affordable Android smartphone, the Galaxy Core 2. The new handset is expected to go on sale in Russia on May 20 for only 9,990 Rubles ($275 / €200) off contract.

According to GSMArena, Samsung Galaxy Core 2 popped up on Russian blog site High-tech.mail.ru, along with its full specs sheet.

It appears that the Galaxy Core 2 is a mid-range smartphone powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and only 512MB of RAM. The device will also pack 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The large 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, while the 5-megapixel camera on the back features LED flash and video recording capability. There’s also a secondary VGA camera in the front for video calls.

The good news is that Samsung Galaxy Core 2 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and TouchWiz UI on top.

Although the smartphone does not come with LTE support, users will benefit from HSPA+ (21Mbps) data speeds. It is also worth mentioning that the Galaxy Core 2 will drain energy from a 2000 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by Samsung.
