The latest version allows users to choose streaming quality

Google has just released a new version of YouTube for Android devices, which brings some new features beside the usual range of bug fixes and improvements.

Users will be happy to know the update adds a new option that will allow them to select the quality level of a video while playing it. The operation can now be done manually and includes various quality levels, as opposed to the previous options, which only allowed users to choose from HD/HQ and off.

With the latest version of YouTube, users will be able to manually choose any resolution available for a playing video, beginning with the lowest and up to full HD (1080p).

There’s also a new Auto quality option that automatically selects the best resolution for a playing video, if that’s what you want to get from all videos you intend to play on your smartphone.

Aside from that, there don’t seem to be any other major changes and, given the fact that the update did not come with an official changelog attached to it, we can’t confirm whether developers also added any new features.

You can now download YouTube for Android 5.7 for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 2.1 and up.
