Google has quietly updated its Maps application for Android devices, so those who notice that there’s a new version available on Play Store by all means should get it right away.

There is more good news, as Google has also issued an official changelog for this update. Even though it’s small, at least we can now be certain of what’s been added in Google Maps 7.7.0.

First of all, Google Maps users will notice that there’s a list of “Upcoming events” option and “Performance” at participating venues. This feature may not be available in all countries.

Another important addition to the application is the ability to tap and hold anywhere on the map in order to drop a pin, save and share that location.

Aside from these two new features, Google has confirmed that some under the hood bug fixes have been included as well, but no details on these have been offered yet.

Given the fact that Google will slowly roll out the new version of Google Maps to Android users, not everyone may have already received the update.

Luckily, we are providing you with the APK file, so you can now download Google Maps for Android 7.7.0 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with most devices powered by Android 4.0.3 and up.
