Google has just released a new version of Gmail for Android, which brings new visual changes and a handful of under the hood improvements.

The most obvious change is the fresh new look that Google has added to Gmail client for Android. Furthermore, developers have confirmed that the update brings improved sync and outbox behavior.

Last but not least, with the latest version of Gmail for Android, users will notice that contact photos now turn into checkboxes when selected.

No other changes have been confirmed by Google, but other minor tweaks and bug fixes may have been included in the update as well.

You can now download Gmail 4.6 for Android for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application is fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and up.
