The Android version of Facebook Messenger has just received a small but important update for those planning to purchase one of the new smartwatches available on the market.

Aside from bumping the application to version 9, which is quite a major achievement, Facebook also added a few new features to its Messenger application.

The most important is the fact that Facebook Messenger now supports Android Wear devices. Those who own a smartwatch will be able to voice reply directly from their Android Wear device.

The latest version of Facebook Messenger also adds the ability to send a “like” thumbs up reply and mute notifications from actions on the phone or Android Wear device.

Unfortunately, no other new features or tweaks have been included in the update that might improve user overall experience with Facebook Messenger.

Speaking of which, the application has been getting really low rates in the last couple of weeks, possibly due to it being terrible. Hopefully, developers will soon push more updates that will fix some of the issues reported by users.

Anyway, you can now download Facebook Messenger for Android 9 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
