The smartphone is now available for purchase for Rs 14,999 ($240 / €175)

Indian company Celkon has just released a high-end smartphone priced under $300 (€220), the S1. The smartphone is now available for purchase in India for only Rs 14,999, which is about $240 or €175 outright.

Celkon S1 ships with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and packs a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor inside, probably provided by MediaTek.

Fonearena also reports that the smartphone boasts an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. In addition, the S1 sports a no less impressive 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The S1 comes with a vibrant 5-inch full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen display that features OGS technology. It measures only 6.5mm thickness and weighs around 137g (battery included).

Other highlights of the smartphone include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 3G HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Bluetooth, GPS and 2300 mAh battery.
