Users can also store the app on the SD memory card

The official BBC News application for Android devices has just received a major update that includes new features and functions.

Users will now be able to select between large or small widgets on the homescreen and which news category they want to be displayed.

The ability to reorder the news categories has also been implemented, along with the possibility to store the application on a memory card.

However, as long as the application is stored on the SD card, widgets will not be available, as Android does not allow it.

Another interesting new feature allows users to send stories, video, and photos directly to the developers.

BBC News for Android is available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 – 2.3.3.
