XOLO is ahead of many device manufacturers

As we step deeper and deeper into 2015, we’re happy to report tech manufacturers’ willingness to provide the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to their devices, even budget ones.

It’s the case of the low-end XOLO One, of which the producing company said it would be getting Lollipop starting January 16 (as seen at IbTimes).

But there’s a funny side-story to this piece of news. Even if you might be fooled into thinking this is an Android One device, because of the name, XOLO One is not one of them. The handset has been launched to compete with Android One devices, but that is as far its affiliation with the brand goes.

Interestingly enough, the XOLO One will be updated to Lollipop before the Android One host of devices will. Which is quite puzzling.

The Android One family was released to provide budget-friendly alternatives to people craving stock Android experience. On top of that Google promised it would be pushing quick updates on them, but sadly the handsets are still stuck running KitKat.

XOLO One is a 4.5-inch handset with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and a MediaTek MT6582M processor under the hood fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The device lives off a 1700mAh battery.

The XOLO One currently sells in India for approximately $106 / €89.
