South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly getting ready for the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system to the owners of LG G Flex handsets out there, and it might have some appealing enhancements in store for them as part of it.

To be more precise, the company is expected to deliver support for the recording of videos in 4K resolution as part of the new platform release, at least this is what a recent post on PhoneArena notes.

The info comes from an unnamed tipster, but it appears to be backed by a User Agent Profile that indeed mentions the capability as being available on LG’s curved smartphone.

However, while the 6-inch handset will be able to shoot videos in 2160p resolution, it looks like it won’t receive support for 120fps slow-motion video recording as part of the new update.

Smartphones that offer support for 4K video recording have been on the market since last year, though they are still rare, something that might change during 2014.

LG G Flex appears to be one of those devices that will provide its users with the functionality in the not too distant future, all due to the fact that support for such high-resolution videos has been included in the quad-core processor that powers it.

However, LG hasn’t released an official announcement on the matter, and it remains to be seen when Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade arrives on the device, and whether the feature will indeed be part of it.
