There have been a few rumors claiming that Sony has already kicked off the rollout of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Xperia Z Ultra, particularly in Hong Kong.

However, it looks that the soft launch in Hong Kong must have been aimed at few select Xperia Z Ultra owners for testing purposes.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat has yet to arrive on Sony Xperia Z Ultra, though there have been quite a few screenshots taken from various builds, which suggests that the Japanese company is still working on the final version.

The folks over at XperiaBlog report that there’s a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat build version now available for Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Unfortunately, there’s no telling if the new build version 14.3.A.0.747 is the final build that will be made available to the general public.

According to the latest hearsay, Sony plans to release Android 4.4.2 KitKat for a few Xperia devices in April, and the Xperia Z Ultra is said to be among the smartphones to receive the update. However, we can’t say for sure when exactly it will go live.

As XperiaBlog points out, the KitKat build aimed at Sony Xperia Z Ultra won’t be packed with the latest features included in the Xperia Z2 such as Smart call handling, Smart backlight control and Glove mode.

The Tap to wake capability won’t be added in the KitKat update for Xperia Z Ultra either, but we should wait for official word before making any judgements.
