Amazon has been long rumored to plan the launch of its own smartphone, and it seems that it might have just made another step towards that milestone.

The company reportedly purchased Evi, an application developed by True Knowledge Ltd, which works in a manner similar to Apple’s Siri.

Offered for free, the software is available for download on both Android and iOS, and could be used by Amazon inside its upcoming device, rumor has it.

Amazon paid $26 million (19.95 million Euro) for the app, TechCrunch reports, but nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter for the time being.

Provided that the rumor pans out, Amazon’s smartphone might hit shelves with Evi integrated on it right from the start, enabling users to do more with it through voice commands. You can learn more on Evi for Android via this link.
