The update should roll out automatically to all compatible devices

The official alarm application that comes embedded into the Windows Phone operating system has just received a small but important update.

Keep in mind that the update is only available to those who already run Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 on their smartphones, at least for the time being.

As WMPoweruser points out, the Alarm application has been recently improved in Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 with a new feature that will allow users to customize snooze times.

Basically, you can now configure snooze times when you set up the alarm, as well as when snoozing it. You will be able to delay the alarm for up to an hour, but additional options that will allow you to snooze the alarm for lesser time are available as well, such as 5, 10, 20 and 30 minutes.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 users won’t have to do anything to get the latest version of the Alarm application on their handsets, as this seems to be available by default.

It’s unclear whether or not the new feature will be available for those who use Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview devices, but we will keep an eye out for any updates to the Alarm app.
