HTC is offering its users the possibility to unlock the bootloaders of their devices in an “official” manner, though the process would still result in voided warranty and troubles when it comes to seeking repairs.

HTC One X, the smartphone that landed on AT&T’s network recently, is not among those smartphones supported on the HTCdev website, but some found a way to have it unlocked nevertheless.

The solution involves altering the phone’s identifier, so as to trick the website into thinking that it is a Rogers device.

Moreover, it also requires some proper configuration of ADB, the use of a hex editor, and rooting the phone, which means that only advanced users will be able to benefit from the trick.

HTC One X owners can head over to this thread on the XDA-Developers forum to learn more on the matter.
