Mobile phone carrier AT&T has just announced the release of a number of no less than five new handsets running under Google's Android operating system.

Today, the company announced the upcoming availability of Motorola ATRIX 2, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung DoubleTime, and the Pantech Pocket, as well as the AT&T Avail, which will be offered to the carrier's pre-paid customers.

The new devices were launched as part of the carrier's already announced plans to bring its Android lineup to a number of 12 devices during the ongoing year, and will help the company exceed that goal, with up to 19 handsets launched in 2011.

For the time being, however, the wireless carrier hasn't offered specific info on when these devices might become available for purchase, nor on the price tags they might feature, but more will be unveiled soon.
