Before the end of this year, ASUS will bring to the market a new flagship handset running under the Android operating system, though that won’t happen during the first half of the year, a company’s official has confirmed.

Speaking to HardwareZone, Jonney Shih, Chairman of ASUS, has confirmed that the vendor is indeed planning a new flagship Android handset, but that users will have to wait until the second half of the year to grab it.

No further info on the handset’s arrival has been provided and details on the hardware capabilities of the device are missing as well, though chances are that the company will release the phone as the successor of PadFone Infinity, said news site notes.

The company released PadFone Infinity at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last year, and also unveiled an improved version of the device several months later, but no new flagship has been announced ever since.

This suggests that the new handset might indeed be the successor of this device, though it is also possible that it will be included in the ZenPhone lineup that debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year.

These are only speculations for the time being, but all should become official sooner rather than later, so stay tuned to learn the news.
