Android fans out there will soon be able to take advantage of a new generation of devices running under Google’s mobile operating system, one that will be powered by AMD’s chipsets, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, the company has already confirmed this at the AMD India Techno Graffiti, and also specified that both smartphones and tablet PCs are included in the roadmap, fonearena reports.

The one thing that hasn’t been detailed, however, was the timeframe for the arrival of these new Android devices, though AMD India’s head reportedly confirmed that they will emerge soon.

AMD became an ARM licensee about two years ago, yet the company is still late with packing its processors inside mobiles, while competitors such as Intel and Nvidia are already well ahead. Stay tuned for more on this.
