Smiley is an application for Android systems from Sony Mobile Communications that enables users to use augmented reality effects to enhance videos and pictures.
The augmented reality technology didn’t took off, but it’s being used in a number of applications, some more famous than others. Basically, the device can add another layer of content atop the images that are captured by the camera.
Since mobile devices are sufficiently powerful, this action can be done in real time and by using facial recognition software. With the Smiley app, users can add a wide selection of emoticons directly to photos and videos. It’s a good way to create memorable or funny moments even if you don’t have a lot of experience.
The app is pretty simple, and users just have to point the camera and shoot. It’s nothing more than that.
