Walkonomics Navigation & Maps 2.1
Unfortunately, the app provides routes only in the following cities Central London, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Buenos Aires and Glasgow.
Intuitive UI with lots of features at hand
The app doesn't come with a tutorial, although new users could have used some instructions with this app. It lacks material design, which means that it doesn't have a side menu with access to all sort of sections.
Instead, there's a toolbar on the bottom of the screen with all sort of icons that you can check out. The interface resembles that of the iOS version of the app, which is quite inconvenient considering that developers didn't make that many changes for the Android version.
Find nice routes in cities
You'll need to enable location services for this app to work, but only if you're located in the cities where routes are available. In order to find a route, simply type in the name of the city and search for routes.
The app gives you access to a map on which you can find your location or search for whichever city you want. In order to search for routes, simply type in the name of the street from which you start walking and the one that you wish to reach. You can also have the app find streets with nice scenery, buildings, trees or the route that is the shortest.
More features
The walkhood feature is only available in certain cities, it finds nice places to which you can walk in 5 minutes. Each route inside the app receives a review from users. It shows you the percentage of people using the route to get to work and it shows you the overall rating of the route.
Every street receives grades based on road safety, easy to cross, pavement/sidewalk state, hilliness, navigation, fear of crime, smart and beautiful, fun and relaxing.
You can also add comments or a review of a certain street if you like. In addition, the app lets you sign in or create a profile using Facebook, Twitter or an email address.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The interface is functional, but it lacks a side menu with settings and it's almost identical with the iOS version of the app. |
Function7
It works just fine, but it's only available in a few cities and it could use some more tools. |
Security8
It needs access to some areas of your phone, but they're all connected to its features. |
Battery5
Consumption is lower than expected, but it's still high compared to other applications. |
Price10
The app is completely free of charge, it doesn't come with any ads or in-app purchases. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.2 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It has lots of tools available, but it needs more features.
