WiFi Finder
Intuitive interface but in need of an upgrade
Such apps should be easy to manage with all features at hand. While WiFi Finder is, it does sport a rather dated interface that could use an upgrade. There are no tutorials or instructions to get you started, but all features are arranged on the main page with thumbnails.
The first thing you'll see in the app is a message for downloading the offline database which would give you access to the Wi-Fi directory whole offline, but the feature isn't small it takes up to 55 MB of disk space.
Scan for available networks
The app displays the name of the network you're connected to and offers you the option of scanning for more networks. It features animation in the form of an actual sonar scanner. It displays networks directly on the scanner or you can have them arranged into a list.
You can have the app auto-connect your device to the network with the strongest signal or play a notification when WiFi internet is found. Tap on one network to see the type of security it sports, the strength of the signal and whether it needs a password or not.
View networks on the map
The app also has a map view of networks, pinpointing the exact location of WiFi networks so you could trace them. You may filter them by free/pay, venue, provider or save them to recent searched locations. There's also the option of adding networks to your list of favorites and having the app auto-connect your device when you're in the area.
Other than that, you can search for networks by providing an address, a city or a postal code. Add your current network to the map, so that other users could connect as well if they're in the area, but you'll have to provide the full address together with the location type and a phone number.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface seems a bit dated and it could use an upgrade. |
Function9
It works just fine, doing everything that it promises to do but it takes a while to load and it's quite difficult to distinguish between networks in the scanner view. |
Security8
It needs access to many areas of your phone, but most of them are connected to its features. |
Battery4
It needs location services on at all times but it still takes up a lot of resources. |
Price9
The app is free of charge but comes with banner ads which can't be removed with an upgrade. |
Compatibility8
The developer didn't mention Android versions compatible with this device. |
Reliable scanner for Wi-Fi networks but the app could use some improvements.
