Vignette 2015.04
There are many photo apps to choose from, but instead of an editor, you can also try out a camera app that lets you apply filters even before pictures are taken. One of such camera apps is Vignette. It comes with all sort of changes that you can make to the app and pictures, so that your photos will never be boring again.
Nice interface with some features at hand
The app doesn't come with a tutorial or any kind of instructions, it launches directly with the camera mode providing users with some features and tools. However, it could use some tips to show new users how they can access features and make the most out of this app.
It doesn't have a settings menu, which is quite inconvenient, since you can't really view snapped pictures inside the app. Still Vignette has some unique features that make it stand out from the crowd of camera applications.
Snap pictures easily
The camera mode is really easy-to-use, with side menus on both parts of the screen simply gently swipe the screen to open them. Users are provided with a guide filled with some tips together with the option to import pictures from their gallery. You can also have the app apply random filters, but that only takes effect after you've already snapped the picture.
The size and aspect ratio can also be changed and the app is available both in landscape and in portrait modes. However, it doesn't use the front camera so you won't be able to take any selfies.
Edit pictures easily
You can apply all sort of filters after you've taken the picture, simply pick from the list of available ones. Have the app focus attention at the centre of the frame, smooth skin tones for flattering portraits, make colors vivid or save pictures in black and white. Lots of effects can be added, some for candid shots while others with distorted colors.
You can also pick from multiple frame types and even apply all sort of timestamps on your pictures. Users can also adjust brightness and saturation, or apply random filters. When you're done editing save the photo inside your phone and share it online from within the app.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface is nice, but it could have used a home page with instant shortcuts to sections and a settings menu. |
Function8
It works just fine, although this app is clearly designed for professionals rather than the general public so it may need more features to make it a bit more friendly. |
Security8
It only needs a few permissions from your phone so it shouldn't pose any privacy issues. |
Battery8
Consumption isn't high, you shouldn't worry about the app draining your resources. |
Price8
It comes with ads but it doesn't seem to provide users with any options of removing them. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.3 or later, making the app accessible to many users. |
It's a nice app but it does need some improvements.
