Shapegram 2.0.3
There are many categories of photo editing apps out there, some more complex than others depending on the targeted category of users, either professionals or amateurs. But if you're only looking to enhance pictures that you may post on social networks, Shapegram might be a solution although a limited one.
Smooth interface with some features
Because some photography apps are quite complex and filled with all sorts of features, they also come with a tutorial or at least some instructions to show users how to navigate inside the app and access all its tools.
But Shapegram doesn't have any sort of tips, not even a short presentation of the app or a help section. It's also lacking a menu with settings, the app automatically creates a separate folder to save your pictures instead of letting you pick one of your own.
In addition, you can't pick the output file format, it saves all images in .jpg format and doesn't keep their initial quality so you'd be left with images in a lower resolution.
Apply shapes to your pictures
The app lets you import images from your gallery or access the camera mode to snap new ones. You can then start applying shapes onto pictures. The app comes with a whole array of shapes to choose from, it has 8 different categories of shapes with over 110 items.
A bar on the bottom of the screen lets you adjust transparency by simply sliding the icon on the screen. You can also pick from 36 types of colour and 50 kinds of free background designs.
Edit your photos
Shapegram also comes with 14 filters that you can apply to your images, but we've seen quite a lot of other applications that have better filters than this one, Shapegram's tools are quite basic and don't offer anything new compared to other applications on the internet.
Still, it lets you enlarge, shrink or rotate photos with edit commands and reverse images with shapes. When you're done editing, you can share pictures online on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google + and other social media websites.
The app doesn't come with any stickers or options to crop images, which would have been really useful especially when trying to have images fit shapes inside the app.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is nice, although it lacks a settings menu but it does have all features at hand. |
Function7
It lacks many basic features that most photo editing apps have, like the option to crop and resize images. |
Security7
It needs some permissions from your phone to areas that aren't connected to its features so keep that in mind if you decide to use the app. |
Battery4
Consumption is high, keep your phone plugged in if you decide to use the app. |
Price8
It's not exactly free, it comes with banner ads and suggestions of other applications to download. |
Compatibility7
It should work on devices running Android 4.0 or later, but that makes it inaccessible to some users. |
Useful only for some shapes, the filters aren't that good and it doesn't rally have any other features.
