Retro Camera 3.84
Rudimentary app with a simplistic interface
The first thing that you'll need to do inside the app is pick a camera. They each come with their own characteristics. The interface consists only of the filter applied on the camera. The app doesn't come with any instructions of use, letting new users figure it out by themselves. It has banner ads on the top of the screen, even in the camera mode and they take up a lot of screen space.
We've come across many photography apps and some of them had ads but none covered the camera. Full screen ads with also pop-up after you take pictures. They're annoying especially because the interface is a bit slow and users may actually tap on ads by mistake.
Snap pictures
It doesn't come with many features in the camera mode, users can only enable flash, adjust volume or switch cameras on their device. You can import a picture from your gallery in order to edit it inside the app. Still, there aren't any other options and it seems that the app has even fewer tools that the stock camera on your phone.
There's no option to zoom in/out, to switch to grid view, to add blur or panorama. The app opens in landscape view, portrait is also available but it won't help with much since the editor only works in landscape view, so you might as well keep your phone like that while you use the app.
Add retro vibes to pictures
Unfortunately, we can't say that the app enhances your pictures. It's only editing tools are filters. Still, their number is impressive and they're divided into several categories to make it easy to navigate and find the ones you need.
However, the filters aren't that great some of them darken the image too much and there's no way of adjusting filter opacity. Other than these filters, there's nothing else you can do to your pictures. You can't add borders, frames, not even text which means that the app is quite rudimentary and needs lots of improvements if it wants to compete with the giants in this category.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The app does sport a rather intuitive UI, but it really needs a tutorial to show new users how to navigate and snap pictures. |
Function7
The camera icon is quite annoying, you'll need to tap on it multiple times to make it work. The app lacks picture editing tools. |
Security6
It needs access to many areas of your phone that aren't connected to its features. |
Battery3
This one of those battery drainer apps, so keep an eye on your resources and make sure you have a charger nearby. |
Price8
If you like the app then purchase the upgrade to remove ads for 0.99$. |
Compatibility9
It should work just fine on devices running Android version 2.2 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
It needs a lot more work, but it does have its perks.
