Polkast is a nice app that lets you do just that, it connects the two devices over WiFi to let you explore and share all sort of files from your computer. It has a nice interface that lets you access all sort of features and tools inside the app.
Sleek interface with plenty of features at hand
The first thing that you need to do inside the app is to download the software on your computer so you can link the two devices together. It doesn't take long to download the program and install it on your device, but of course that depends on your internet connection.
Afterward, you'll need to create an account and sign up on both of your devices so that the connection would be secure on your WiFi. The whole setup only lasts a couple of minutes and then you'll be able to use all features inside the app.
Access files on your computer
The app is great for when you wish to view files stored on your computer. All is done remotely via WiFi and secured with a password. The interface is quite nice, it features thumbnails with all the main types of files on your computer.
However, before you can actually use the app you'll have to grant access to certain files on your PC, or else you won't be able to view them. Once you've done that, you can view pictures, read documents, watch videos and listen to music.
More features
All items available in the app are displayed into folders, you can also check the timeline of actions on your app. Other than that, the app has lots of instructions on how to upload files and create folders.
You can also share files on social networks and search through them by inputting keywords in the search bar. It provides you with notifications whenever a file was downloaded and is ready to view.
Audio files are played inside the app. Polkast has a 15-day free trial, but if you wish to use the app further you have to subscribe monthly for $5.99 or annually for $49.99. A bit pricey if you ask us.
