Kids Media 3.22
Simplistic UI that packs some cool features
Kids Media is the app version of the highly-popular commonsensemedia.org website and all the app's content is collected from this source. But the app's interface is far from the website's neat design.
Kids Media sports a dark UI, with a toolbar that takes up much of the screen and has blurred icons. It also faces issues with loading images and there's no option of adjust font size, which isn't of the same size throughout the app. You can use the app to browse for movies, games, music, books and apps.
Only age-appropriate content with many reviews
Probably the best way to use this app is for searching a movie appropriate for the whole family. The app comes with an updated list of movie reviews, together with descriptions and ratings by other users.
In addition, Kids Media specifies if a certain movie contains violence and lists the scenes that might promote an aggressive behavior, letting parents decide whether the film is appropriate for their children or not.
Also, the app provides recommendations of content based on your preferences. There's also the option of sharing reviews on social networking sites. But, it doesn't come with trailers for movies or samples for songs.
Browse content by age and check out the top picks list
Kids Media also filters content by age, so that you can choose different movies and books for your kids. In addition, the app comes with a list of other applications for learning and top picks of games, movies and websites.
There's also a section where you can create a profile of your children, by providing their names, age, gender, in order to receive recommendations from the app. But Kids Media doesn't come with a password to protect the data and it takes a while to load and rarely displays images of movies or apps.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
Simplistic design with fewer features compared to the website and no extra themes to make it more appealing. |
Function6
The app has trouble with loading and rarely displays images. Still, the content is well worth giving it a try. |
Security7
No online registration and it requires few permissions from your phone, but it doesn't come with a password to protect you kids' profiles. |
Battery8
The app was well optimized not to take up too much power resources, so you don't have to worry about that. |
Price10
No ads and no in-app purchases whatsoever, clearly the developers are more focused on content. |
Compatibility8
Kids Media requires Android version 4.0 or later, making it inaccessible to many users. |
Cute app with great content, but dated UI and loading issues.
