IKEA Emoticons 1.0
But IKEA also launched an emoticons app, which isn't as good as some of its other applications. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with integration in other apps which gives it limited use and makes it quite annoying for some users.
Simplistic app with limited use
IKEA Emoticons launches directly with a tutorial showing users what they can do with the app and how to access all of its features. It also shows users how to use emoticons, but the steps are difficult to follow and may leave some users confused.
The app doesn't come with a settings menu and there are no changes that you can do to the interface, IKEA Emoticons proving to be a really simplistic app with only some emoticons and nothing else to impress users and make the app stand out from other similar ones.
Use all sort of emoticons in your messages
The app posts a permanent toolbar in the notification area which opens with all the various emoticons that you can use in your messages. Unfortunately, you can't disable or remove the toolbar from the status area.
Simply tap on one that you like, choose the messaging app from the drawer and attach it to your text. Your most recent ones have a separate section to make it easy to access them, but you can also use icons with emoticons portraying lamps, chairs or ice cream to make your messages clearer. Others are drawings of other items in your home including beds, remote controls, laptops and even the IKEA store, if you think about suggesting your friends to go there.
Some shortcomings
Of course, the list of emoticons also includes some smiley faces but not that many. The app doesn't integrate with any messenger app and it doesn't let users change the size of emoticons, as some of them are as big as half a screen.
You can't include them in a text and you must send separate messages with them. The design is a bit chunky with bright colors, emoticons should have been a bit more appealing to the eye.
Still, they're nice for sending texts using all sort of messaging apps, including Facebook's Messenger but they're really not functional and it would actually take less time to write full texts than to replace words with IKEA Emoticons.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The style seems a bit chunky with really bright colors and absolutely no option of adding more items. |
Function6
The app doesn’t integrate with any messaging apps, which means that you'll have to manually select IKEA emoticons and open them separately. |
Security10
This is one of those apps that surely doesn't impose any privacy issues and it only runs in the background and doesn't really need many permissions from your phone. |
Battery8
Consumption is moderate, the app surely won't take up too many resources from your device. |
Price10
It's completely free of charge, no ads or in-app purchases whatsoever. |
Compatibility7
It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
Without integration with messaging apps, IKEA Emoticons is quite useless and difficult to use.
