FlightAware 4.0.113

Track flights in real time and see if they will post any delays using this neat app
It's always inconvenient to have your flight delayed or to wait around forever at the airport, no knowing what happened or when you're flight will actually arrive. But if you need to pick up someone from the airport, then you should use FlightAware app.

It will show you exactly where the plane is and tell you whether it will post any delays. It displays a whole map with planes that are near your location and it comes with lots of other features.

Sleek interface with many features

The nice thing about this app is that it offers plenty of features for users to enjoy, all packed in a nice interface with a very comprehensive layout. A side menu offers users access to all sections of the app, including to settings and the registration page.

You can choose which screen the app to open when you launch it, either the feature for searching flights or that with planes nearby. Users can also choose the map type and have it automatically refresh information or have the app show airport airspace maps on the airport summary widgets.

Search for flights

The app comes with a search bar that lets you find flights easily, simply by typing in the name of the airline and the number of the flight, the tail number, routes and airports. The app remembers all the searches that you've made inside the app, so you can find them faster the next time you launch the app.

It also lets you search for flights nearby by displaying a map with all the flights near your location. You can have it show weather conditions and shift from multiple types of maps, like terrain, satellite, streets or hybrid.

Find out about airport delays and have the app display flight information

Simply tap on an airplane to get flight information like the type of plane, the flight, the altitude and groundspeed. You can also save flights and check their status later. In addition, you can add airports to monitor them and alerts for flights, but you'll have to login for that.

Moreover, the app comes with statistics on the number of airborne flights tracked, the ones monitored in the past 24 hours and the total number of flights in the database. The Misery map overlays on a weather map and shows the obvious connection between bad weather and bad travel.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9

The interface is really nice providing a professional look to the whole application.

Function9

It works just fine, although some sections are only available in the US, like the misery map and the map with airport delays.

Security8

It needs access to some areas of your phone, but not all are connected to its features like the contacts list.

Battery7

Consumption is so so, obviously the app needs a lot of resources to work so keep an eye on battery levels.

Price9

It's free but comes with ads, remove them by purchasing the premium version for 2.59$.

Compatibility8

It should work just fine on devices running Android version 2.3.3 or later, making it accessible to many users.
