First Aid 2.0.9
Dated GUI but with all tools at hand
Clearly this app isn't centered around a stylish interface. The UI is rather dull and dated, with chunky icons that portray the information they include. Aside from this, icons are displayed on the top of the screen, but the app wasn't well designed to adjust to screen size and it leaves a black space at the bottom. In addition, the app doesn't have vivid colors and the menu comes with gray icons.
Tips on how to handle various situations
When it comes to the information provided, the app hits the mark. First Aid has tips on how to handle many critical situations, like wounds and bleeding, poisoning or bone injuries. Users are provided with all the actions they need to take, before an ambulance arrives to the scene.
The information is broken down into sections, like recognition of the injury, treatment and cautions that one may need to take. Some sections even come with links to YouTube videos, opened in your phone's browser. In addition to that you can set a shortcut with the emergency number, so the app can dial it automatically.
Check out myths, take a test and set up your emergency kit
When it comes to managing emergency situations, there are many myths and people should know that some of them don't actually help patients, but only make the situation worse for when paramedics arrive. First Aid app has a section with myths, but they aren't divided into categories.
Once you've learned the steps that you need to take in case of an emergency situation, you can test yourself by taking a quiz. There are questions on all categories presented in the app and you are provided with further explanations. The app also allows comes with a list of items in any emergency kit and you can create your own kit of must-have items in the app.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
Dull and dated design, with a dark background that is tiresome for the eyes. |
Function8
Despite its flaws, the app delivers detailed information on steps to be taken in emergency situations. It also comes with a quiz and items that should be featured in an emergency kit. |
Security6
No online registration, but the app needs unjustifiable access to many areas of your phone. |
Battery8
Normal consumption of battery, so you don't have to worry about that unless you play many YouTube videos. |
Price8
No ads or in-app purchases but many nagging messages to rate the app. |
Compatibility10
The app requires Android version 1.5 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
Despite its dull design and many pop-up pages, the app is quite useful for learning what to do in an emergency situation.
