FilterGrid 1.1.5
FilterGrid falls in between, it has some features but not that many that would set it aside from other photography apps. Still, it's well worth a try but don't expect much from this photo editor.
Nice interface with all features at hand
The app doesn't come with a tutorial, only some instructions for new users so they can easily access features and start using tools for editing pictures. But the most annoying thing about the UI is the large banner ad on the home page with recommendations of other applications that you may download.
It also has a section with other suggestions and an icon that redirects you to the developer's Instagram account. Still, it has a settings menu but no help of FAQ section for any questions that you may have.
Edit pictures by applying filters
It lets users import images from their gallery or snap pictures instantly in the camera mode. Once you've picked an image you can start editing it by firstly picking the aspect ratio and cropping the image.
Next you can start applying filters, you can pick from 44 kinds of templates that divide your photo into several pieces depending on the design. You can apply different filters on each side or pick shapes to add to your picture. Moreover you can adjust the brightness, contrast, saturation, color temperature, and sharpness of any individual grid element within a template.
Some shortcomings
FilterGrid lets you pick the image resolution, either medium or HD, but keep in mind that the app saves output images of a lower quality compared to the initial picture. It doesn't let you choose the destination folder and all pictures will be saved in .jpg format without giving users the option of picking another format.
The app has 65 different filters that you can apply but they're not that great and frankly we've seen better in some other photo editing apps. Still, we liked the idea of having splicing templates and the option to apply different filters and effects to each one of them, thus providing endless possibilities of editing pictures. When you're done, you may save pictures and share them on social networks.

Bottom Line
Design / UI8
The interface is okay but it could use a tutorial to show new users how to navigate inside the app and access features. |
Function7
It works just fine, but it reduces the resolution of your pictures and doesn't let you pick the destination folder or output format. |
Security7
It doesn't need online registration but it wants permission to find accounts on your device, other than that it should be a secure app. |
Battery9
Consumption is low, this app won't drain your resources. |
Price8
It comes with ads and suggestions of other apps, some features are locked and only available if you share the app with friends. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making it inaccessible to some users. |
It needs some improvements and more features, but it's truly fun to play with templates and different effects.
