Diana Photo 0.9.0
Many photo editors have intuitive interfaces, but they're quite similar. Diana Photo has a really unique layout, quite minimal but with some hidden features and tools. It's filled with various nice filters and effects, to help you make your photos stand out.
Unique interface that makes it fun to edit your pictures
Diana Photo launches directly with the home screen, without providing users with a tutorial or any kind of instructions. Some tips would have been useful, considering that the UI doesn't resemble that of any other application that we've come across.
It doesn't need online registration, which is nice since it means that all features are already available inside the app and you won't need internet connection to edit your pictures. Still, it's missing a settings menu so you won't be able to pick the destination folder or adjust image quality for output files.
Edit your pictures easily
When you first launch the app, you'll notice that it picks three random pictures from your gallery and applies filters to them. You can change the filter by swiping the screen and save images by tapping.
There are no instructions to tell you that, so at first you might be swiping and tapping endlessly until you can figure out how this app really works. It can be used to combine two photos into a unique composition or share your phone to change filters.
Long press on the top picture to open the menu with all filters that the app has to offer, however they're only featured as thumbnails and there's no preview for them. It will take users some time to get used to filters and remember the names of the ones that they liked the most.
Some features
It doesn't open a menu with all available filters or effects, you only get random ones when you swipe. Still, you can open your image gallery and pick whichever photo you like to edit. But when you save one, the app automatically loads others on your screen even if you saved them by mistake.
You can also access the camera and snap pictures directly from the app. It has some more features, like the option to apply or remove watermarks, save pictures in HD or save original photos, but the menu is quite confusing and you can't really tell which feature is enabled.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The interface is really minimal, but it needs instructions and a settings menu as it is too confusing for users. |
Function7
The main advantage of this is app is its filters and effects, but it does need some basic editing tools like color exposure and transparency adjustment. |
Security8
It only needs access to some areas of your phone, they're mainly connected to its features. |
Battery6
Consumption seems a bit high, keep an eye on resources when using this app. |
Price8
It comes with popup ads that can be removed if you upgrade to the premium version for 0.89$. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 4.0 or later, making the app available for many users. |
It's a good idea but the execution is a bit poor.
