Caustic 3 3.1.2
You'll find all sorts of apps in the store, many for pictures and weather forecast and even some for creating music. Caustic 3 is one of those apps, inspired by rack-mount synthesizers and samplers rigs.
Sleek interface that resembles actual instruments
The app opens with a tutorial, featuring all sorts of instructions and tips to get you started. For regular people, the UI may seem confusing and needs a bit taking used to, but users who are accustomed to such instruments will find it easy to navigate and create original sounds and beats, straight on their mobile device.
It's only available in landscape mode, portrait mode wouldn't fit the whole interface on the screen anyway. The app comes in a demo version, it's not limited by time but song saving and exporting are disabled which makes the app quite useless in the free version. You'll need to upgrade to the premium version in order to unlock them and an upgrade costs 8.04$.
Create music using a synthesizer app
The app comes with plenty of features. It lets you create your own rack with 14 machines to choose from, including a subsynth or an analog subtractive synthesizer and a multi-sample wave synthesizer. You can also select a bass line with 303-like monosynth and a beat box, 8-channel sampling drum machine.
Users can also choose from a harmonic table pad synthesizer, 8bit equation solver synthesizer or a modular fully configurable and routable synthesizer. If none of them satisfies your need for creating music, you can select a hammond-like tonewheel organ with rotary speaker or a 8-band harmonic vocoder.
Other features
Caustic 3 also comes with an effects rack supporting 2 effects per machine and the option to choose from 16 types of effects, together with a mixer desk with global delay/reverb effects. You can also enjoy a master section with parametric EQ and limiter and the app includes a song sequencer.
However, in order to use the app users should know that their device must have a pretty powerful device and need headphones or external speakers and a 800 x 480 resolution screen.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The interface really resembles that of actual synthesizers with all the buttons and switches. |
Function8
It's complete with 14 type instruments and many more features for users to enjoy but the free version doesn't let you save songs. |
Security9
All the permissions that it needs are directly connected to its features, so you don't need to worry about the privacy of your data. |
Battery6
Consumption is really high, but that is somewhat to be expected considering that the app uses a lot of your phone's resources. |
Price8
It's free of ads but comes with a steep price for the full version, 8.04$. However, the free version doesn't let you save songs. |
Compatibility9
It should work just fine on devices running Android version 2.2 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
A neat app that lets you create songs on rack-mount synthesizers.
