BoomCap Music Player 3.508
You can find everything from full-featured complex players to applications that have only the basic tools so that they would consume less battery resources. BoomCap Music Player is part of the former category, it offers access to an online gallery of tracks and videos, together with the option of playing music stored on your device.
Chunky interface with some features
BoomCap Music Player launches directly with some tips and instructions displayed on the screen, but it would have been nicer if the app had a tutorial presenting all the features that you could access.
It doesn't need online registration, which is quite neat considering that you'll have access to all sort of songs and videos. However, you might be prompted to register with your Gmail account. You are given a choice when you launch the app, either to access the online gallery or audio tracks stored on your device.
Listen and watch videos on the platform
Many of the videos are stored on YouTube, the app simply streams them from there. BoomCap Music Player sometimes has trouble playing certain videos, so you'll have to be patient with that. You can also search for videos individually by simply typing in the name of the song or artist.
The app comes with controls in the notification bar and the lock screen. It automatically creates a playlist with your selections. However, videos streaming sometimes crashes and the app displays the message stating that the video doesn't support playback. A side menu gives you access to all sort of sections inside the app, including songs, videos, genres and playlists.
Use the app as your own music player
It doesn't take long to retrieve songs that you have stored on your device, but during testing it failed to play at least one of them. Instead, the app kept displaying annoying popup ads, one after another, either for products, other applications or premium features.
That being said, the media player inside BoomCap Music Player doesn't work at all since it failed to play at least one song. Users could upgrade to the pro version for up to 5.59$, but that's not a guarantee that the app would work faster or that it could actually play songs from your device, since it crashed so many times.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The interface seems a bit chunky and many of the icons don't actually work, leaving users tapping on them multiple times before something happens. |
Function3
It crashes or simply refuses to play songs from your phone's gallery, while some of the YouTube videos don't play, aside from the fact that it's extremely slow. |
Security3
It doesn't specifically say that users must register online but it keeps asking which Gmail account to use for sign up. |
Battery4
Consumption is high, users must keep their phones plugged in when using this app. |
Price3
Annoying popup ads one after the other, remove them by upgrading for up to 5.59$, which is really expensive for a slow app. |
Compatibility8
It should work on devices running Android version 2.3 or later, making it accessible to many users. |
Don't bother trying out this app, it's slow and doesn't even play music.
