We've come across a fair share of such applications but only TunnelBear comes with animation and a tutorial showing new users how to get accustomed to the app and take advantage of all of its features.
The app launches with instructions and all sorts of tips on how to use all tools that it offers. New users need to register with an email address and verify their account before they can start establishing VPN connections on their phones. A side menu offers access to all sections of the app including to extra instructions and tips.

The nice thing about this app is that it provides you with the option of establishing a VPN connection outside of your country and thus protect your identity while surfing the internet.
It also prevents websites from recording personal data and your location. It's quite easy to establish a connection, simply enable the app and choose a location. You can select from multiple countries, including the United States, Canada or Japan.
It displays details of your connection on a map and it seems to be quite stable, without getting disconnected too much. Users can also search for 'tunnels' on the map and connect simply by tapping on the location.

However, TunnelBear only offers 500 MB of free data per month. Send a tweet and you can get up to 1 GB of free data per month. You can also upgrade to a premium account for more data.
Pay 2.99 per month for unlimited data for your Android device or 29.99$ per month for the same features. The app comes with a section containing bear sounds, as to consolidate the app's brand but fortunately it doesn't have any ads or other sort of features that need to be unlocked.
