xMusic Player 1.1.0.0
For Windows Phone users seeking to find a combined solution for playing music and also for taking care of the songs stored onto their handsets, xMusic Player provides a pretty interesting set of features wrapped in a nice package.
Cool looks and practical design
The appearance of this utility is quite appealing, featuring some smooth graphics that are consistent throughout the app. The informative GUI also presents at a glance a few details about each listed music track, while also providing a smart layout to facilitate the access and management of the songs and playlists.
Going through the lists of files and the few menus that are part of the app is done seamlessly, without any sort of delays. Unfortunately, there are some annoyances inside as well and the experience is a bit spoiled because of them.
More precisely, as soon as you start the utility you will be assailed by flashing banners in every section of the application. After one or two uses you will also start to receive some reminders that prompt you to rate and review xMusic Player.
Browse and manage audio files on the fly
A neat feature of this application is the ability to handle music tracks that are kept on the phone's local storage and also on an attached SD card. More so, inside the "Music" area of the utility you will see a small icon and a label next to each entry on the list, which show the location of the respective items.
With a long press on any of the songs you will bring up the commands for managing that file and xMusic Player allows you to quickly rename, copy or mode items, delete unnecessary ones and if you want to create fresh containers inside the music database, adding a new folder is one tap away.
Advanced payback controls and playlist support
This utility enables you to load individual audio files and it can also be used for putting together playlists, with the selected tracks. A pretty cool feature of the app is the integrated support for lyrics, as it can display or search them.
The commands for controlling the playback include the usual play/pause, next and previous track buttons, but there are also some neat functions for shuffling the songs, repeating all of them or only a single tune.
An individual volume slider allows you to adjust the sound level independent of the main device volume and using the seek bar you can move back and forth inside the currently playing audio file.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The appearance of this application is quite nice and appealing, with two themes and several backgrounds to choose from, but also featuring lots of adverts. |
Function9
This utility supports the most common audio formats and provides a decent set of features for playing and managing sound files. |
Security10
As it doesn't go anywhere near the secure areas of the system, xMusic Player is safe to install and use. |
Battery5
The power consumption for this app is substantial and if it is left running for a few hours it can deplete the battery. |
Price9
All the features that are included inside this utility come completely free, but only of costs and not of nuisances. |
Compatibility8
Tailored for use on the more modern handsets on the market, xMusic Player will need to be installed and used onto a Windows Phone 8.1 device. |
