iMoney 1.3.1.0
For those interested in keeping track of expenses and incomes with the help of their Windows Phone, iMoney is one of the applications that could come in handy.
Nicely drawn GUI that can be customized
This utility comes with a cool looking interface that has all the functions and commands at hand, so you can get down to business as soon as you open it for the first time.
The main screen hosts all the transparent tiles that facilitate the access to the expense types and there are some neat enhancements you can make to the interface.
Thus, it is possible to change the background wallpaper with one of those included in the app or you can add images of your own and use them. Picking the accent color used inside the ap is also an option.
If moving through the numerous sections of the app is a breeze, thanks to a fluent navigation, the ad banners shown in the lower side of the screen are quite irritating, as they keep on changing.
Add expenses and view spending at a glance
Adding amounts for various types of expenses is done in a very simple manner and iMoney has the advantage of supporting custom categories you can create on the spot.
For each new entry all you have to specify is the date and amount of money, then optionally add a note. Each category tile shows the number of entries it hosts.
When going through the "Daily", "Weekly" and "Monthly" sections of the application you will have all the corresponding expenses listed in there and with a tap on the category name you can activate the jumplist that makes the navigation more convenient.
Budgets and simple calculations
iMoney allows you to set a budget for each of the above mentioned modules, so you can see if the expenses for the current week are within the allocated amount, for instance.
If the spending has gone over the budget limit, you will see the total colored in red, while if you have spent 85% of the allocated money the total will appear in yellow, as an early warning measure.
A nifty calculator is also at your disposal inside the utility and you can use it to make additions and subtractions. Unfortunately you cannot modify the currency, so all the amounts are expressed in USD.

Bottom Line
Design / UI9
The appearance of this utility is very nice from end to end and the only downside it has is the presence of the adverts. |
Function7
There is a pretty good set of features inside iMoney for tracking expenses and budgets, but it cannot export entries or show data charts. |
Security7
The app needs to access for some reason the phone dialer, the owner identity and the web browser component, even if these are not related to the actual functioning. |
Battery4
The utility has a very high power consumption and this keeps the battery usage at considerable levels at all times. |
Price9
Given the numerous advantages it brings, this utility is a very valuable tool that only loses a bit because of the ever-present ads. |
Compatibility9
The more recent handsets that are powered by Windows Phone 8 and above can run this application without any issues. |
