Whiskers 1.4.2.0
For those who are trying out several Windows Phone apps that offer password-based protection and encryption on the go, this utility is worth a go, mainly because it provides ease of use and some neat extra features.
Well structured interface with a somber look
The application offers you a relatively simple design that relies on a very practical layout, where all the information is preserved in orderly fashion. The graphics are decent, but nothing out of the ordinary and there are no possibilities in sight for visual customization.
Nonetheless, there are some nicely done icons that can be assigned to each entry you add, so the tiles that appear inside the various sections of the app will have a more pleasant look.
Moving around Whiskers is smooth and without any delays or other type of similar flaws and the information attached to each entry in its database appears promptly and in an easy to read manner.
Add new entries and manage them
Before starting to use the app you will have to set up an access code that is 4 to 8 digits long and which can be modified at a later time from within the utility.
A neat feature of this application is the customizable "Lockout time" function that you can use to specify after how many minutes you want Whiskers to lock itself after you exit the app.
By default the utility will lock immediately after you quit it, but if for some reason you wish it to behave otherwise, you can pick an interval between 30 seconds and 30 minutes.
When it comes to adding or editing new entries that are stored inside the vault, you can specify the username and password, add credit card and banking details, a URL address, notes and a photo.
The pictures can be loaded from the local storage or captured on the spot with the dedicated module of the app. Favorite entries can be marked as well, so you can have these closer at hand from the special area of the utility.
Backup and restore data on the fly
Whiskers also offers a set of options that will enable you to transfer your data encoded to an email address, copy it to the clipboard also in encoded format or in plain text, while the images can be exported to the photo library.
The restoration procedure is even more simple than the backup operation and it can be completed from the corresponding area of the application.
