Weather Satellite 1.3.0.0
This tool comes with a wide variety of satellite source images that you will be able to check out right from your mobile phone's screen.
Easy to use and friendly interface
As soon as you finish installing and start the application, you can get down to business thanks to a neat layout that puts at your fingertips all the necessary data. The inspired background image hints at the purpose of this tool, but there are no other elements of design to please the eye.
You will be able to go through the long list of sources seamlessly, without any delays, but when accessing the maps, a noticeable delay will stop you in your tracks for a few seconds. Nonetheless, once the imagery is loaded, the animation will play fairly smoothly.
The advertisements shown inside the main screen are quite bothersome as they cover the lower part of the screen.
Detailed satellite imagery at a glance
With Weather Satellite you will get a lot of pictures taken from space by the weather satellites and for quite a few entries from the list you also have the possibility to play the animations on the spot. Unfortunately, there are plenty of sources that do not provide any content at all.
For those maps that also offer animated content you can choose from several views, including water vapor, infrared, rainbow, RGB and AVN types of maps.
Most of the imagery, however, covers the U.S. territories and the oceans, while for the other regions of the world only a few satellite and no radar maps are available.

Bottom Line
Design / UI7
The looks of this app are quite simple, without too many bells and whistles. The navigation is smooth but the waiting time to load the imagery and the advertisements can become bothersome. |
Function8
Weather Satellite offers a lot of useful maps and animations, but its reach is rather limited and many areas of the world are not covered and there is no actual data about them to be found inside. |
Security7
Even if it seems to be a simple satellite map repository, the app requires access to many areas of the system, for some having no good reason to look inside. |
Battery7
The power consumption for this application is moderate to high and it depends on the data updates that have to be made to keep up with the latest satellite images available. |
Price8
This app is a very good source of information for people interested in following the evolution of weather conditions in the Southern hemisphere, in most oceans and on the American continent. |
Compatibility8
Those who have at their disposal a Windows Phone 8 or above handset will be able to have this app up and running onto their devices. |
