Most users want to give a personal touch to their mobile phones and some of the easier ways to do this are by modifying the sounds or the backgrounds. For the later purpose, Windows Phone users have at their disposal a lot of apps that are designed to help them bring some beautiful pics onto the lock screen.

Wallpaper is the name of one of these utilities and it will make it possible for everyone to find some really appealing pics to use on their handsets.

Easy to use interface for quick operation

The appearance of the app is rather plain and simple, featuring four large animated tiles on the home screen, each with some decent graphics. Unfortunately, there are some flashing ad banners pinned to the bottom of the screen and they appear everywhere inside the application.

Going through the long lists of high-quality pictures is smooth enough, but scrolling will often stop to wait for the images to load. Also, the loading time for individual photos is a bit longer than expected.

Wallpaper is based on a simple principle as it allows you to browse freely through the pics and save those you like. Alternately, you can search the database for specific images and the app will offer you a nice set of categories to help you in finding the appropriate photos.

A very nice feature of this utility is the ability to choose a certain resolution for the pictures you want to get before actually performing the search. There are several presets you can opt for and they cover a good deal of device and screen types.

Design / UI6 The looks of this app are not nearly as appealing as the content it provides. The large tiles tightly grouped on the home screen seem inappropriately placed and sized, while the advertisements and prompts to evaluate the app are quite annoying.	Function8 The wallpapers are well organized under numerous relevant categories and the search engine yields good results every time. The possibility to choose an image resolution that befits the handset's screen is a very nice addition, but it loses some points due to the numerous pauses and the long time it takes to load images.	Security7 Without having anything to do with the actual functionality, the app requires access to the phone dialer as well as to the owner and phone identities.
Battery7 Loading the high-quality photos, searching or browsing the immense online database will have a visible impact on the battery usage, with the power consumption remaining above average at all times.	Price9 As it is a free application and since it provides a good deal of beautiful pictures in several resolutions, Wallpaper is a very nice utility to have and only the presence of the adverts affects its overall value.	Compatibility9 Most Windows Phone users will have no problems in getting and installing this application as it runs on version 7.5 or higher of the operating system and needs a screen resolution of at least 480x800 pixels.
