VPassword 2.3.5.0
To provide mobile users with some alternatives for safeguarding their logins numerous applications have been developed and Windows Phone users can try one that goes by the name of VPassword.
Unappealing GUI, bent on functionality
The quality of the visual aspect seems to have been forsaken in favor of practical use, so the looks of this app are anything but attractive.
The layout seems fairly well organized, though, with all the functions and commands conveniently placed for easy access. The navigation through the password list and the various sections of the application is seamless and without any sort of delays.
Unfortunately, there is another visible letdown in plain sight, namely the presence of some flashing adverts that seem glued to the upper part of the screen where they are constantly changing.
Save and handle website access credentials on the fly
VPassword offers a simple method of adding and managing passwords, so you can store as many logins as you want inside the app. Thus, all you have to do is specify the title of the new entry, add the username, password and URL address then hit the "Save" button to complete the job.
From the main screen, where the list is in plain sight, you can tap on an item to view its details, which include a password strength rating (up to 5 stars) and the necessary commands for editing the entry or deleting it on the spot.
There is also a "Copy" function that will send the password directly in the system clipboard, so you can paste it in an online login form with ease.
Data backup and application security
A neat thing about this utility is the ability to export the stored passwords to a OneDrive account and have them ready to be restored whenever needed. The data is sent encrypted so no one can view the content as it can only be read from Vpassword.
A major flaw of this app is the fact that when left running in the background and restored from the phone memory it will not ask for the security code you set up on the first run, anyone who can access your handset while the tool is running will be able to view the passwords.

Bottom Line
Design / UI4
The plain and unattractive interface is plagued by annoying advertisements in every screen, so from the visual perspective it fails to score good points. |
Function4
The ease of use and ability to send and retrieve web login data to a cloud account are welcomed, but the fact that it doesn't succeed to fully protect the content is a serious letdown. |
Security7
The app will require access to the phone dialer as well as to the owner and phone identities for no good reason. |
Battery6
There is a significant battery usage while this application is running, as its power consumption reaches high values most of the time. |
Price4
Despite its simplicity, this tool is lacks some advanced functions and has an important security hole that, coupled with the other drawbacks takes a heavy toll on its overall value. |
Compatibility9
Users who are wiling to try this application will have to do it on a Windows Phone 7.5 or above handset, with a screen resolution of at least 480 by 800 pixels. |
