Thermometer 1.0.0.1
For those who do not need the whole package of forecasts and detailed current conditions, there is a neat app they can try onto their Windows Phone powered handset that has a really suggestive name: Thermometer.
Nice and simple front-end
The utility offers a relatively clean appearance, with a neatly designed temperature measuring instrument inside the main screen. Also, the information is displayed clearly and is very easy to read.
When displaying the current reading, the app uses a fun effect to raise or lower the red meter to the correct value. On the downside, there are some annoying advertisements shown at the bottom of the screen and they keep on changing.
Get the latest temperature value at a glance
Thermometer doesn't need any kind of configuration and it uses the location services to provide the exact temperature readings for your current position. Deactivating this from the "Settings" menu will render the app utterly useless, so you will have to keep this option active for the utility to work.
The data is put on display after a few seconds and during this time the application fetches the necessary information from the online source it uses. Perhaps the best thing about Thermometer is that it is able to bring quite accurate readings for the temperature in your location, so it seems fairly reliable from thins point of view.
The values are shown in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and the scale supports gradations ranging between -30 and 50, respectively -20 up to 120 degrees. The increments are of 10 units for centigrade and of 20 units for Fahrenheit, while the readings displayed with numbers in the upper part of the screen are more exact.

Bottom Line
Design / UI6
The application has a rather decent appearance, with simple, yet well designed graphics, but most of the interface is left blank, while the adverts are a constant nuisance. |
Function7
Thermometer provides some precise readings of the outside temperature, but it takes a couple of moments for it to receive the data, while other advanced options or customizations are not available. |
Security7
The utility will require access to some sensitive areas of the system, like the phone dialer or the phone identity and even to the music library, even if there are not related to its functionality. |
Battery8
The app needs a moderate amount of energy to function properly, so the power consumption is fairly reduced. |
Price8
This application does what it is supposed to pretty well, but has some shortcomings that make it lose a bit of value overall. |
Compatibility9
For anyone interested in having a go at Thermometer the only requirement is that the tool is installed and used onto a Windows Phone 7.5 or above devices. |
