After pressing the "Play" button you will hear the sound played from the phone's speaker, but you should be careful not to hold the device too close to your ear and it's advisable that you check the volume on the device first, so the noise played by the app is not too loud.
Interpreting the results is not at all difficult, as the app provides the necessary information. In fact things can be simplified as follows: if you hear the sound from the speaker, your hearing is OK, if you can't hear the sound at the current frequency but you heard the previous one, you've reached the limit of your hearing for the lower of higher frequencies.
