Ringtones Pro 1.0.6.0
Windows Phone users who want their handsets to sound a bit different from the rest can try Ringtones Pro, a utility that brings a lot of new audio tracks cut to be used as base sounds for incoming voice calls, messages, emails and even reminders or voicemail.
Uninspired look but well structured layout for keeping the content organized
Definitely not the fairest of them all, the interface of this app consists of four oversized tiles and no possibility to change a thing from that dull appearance.
More so, inside the GUI you will find a stream of continuously changing advertisements and they seem stuck to the bottom of the screen all through the app. The ads are accompanied at application startup by a prompt to rate the app, but fortunately, this one can be marked to never be shown again and then dismissed from view.
Things start to look up a bit when going deeper inside the app and browsing the ringtones, as they are well organized and the controls for managing them look a lot better than the tiles on the home screen.
Quickly find and get the ringtones you are after
Operating Ringtones Pro is a simple job, with the search function very easy to use and able to provide a good set of results, when it manages to find anything to match the keywords you specified.
When selecting any entry from the list, a set of nice buttons will appear in a new screen, allowing you to manage that item by offering you the commands to play, stop or save the song.
The ringtones are structured according to several criteria like novelty, number of downloads or user rating. In order to make the tracks in a category appear, you will have to replace the "Featured"setting first and then make the selection, otherwise you will end up with the same list of songs.
There is a good deal of diversity insofar as the offered sounds are concerned and the fact that the downloaded tracks are automatically send to the "Ringtones+Sounds" system settings area of the phone is an advantage. Nonetheless, the fact that these sounds cannot be moved to the main library or shared works to the disadvantage of the app.

Bottom Line
Design / UI3
This utility's Achilles' heel is the interface, as it doesn't have any kind of appeal to it, except perhaps for the buttons that appear when a ringtone is selected. |
Function7
The feature set seems good overall, but it has some shortcomings that make the app lose some points here. |
Security7
Ringtones Pro looks into the phone and owner identity and accesses the phone dialer, even if these areas have nothing to do with its functionality. |
Battery8
The utility needs a moderate amount of power to function properly and there are no instances where it would consume more energy. |
Price8
On the whole, this seems to be a good deal because of the varied choice of ringtones offered for free, but only if you can get passed the annoyance cause by the ad banners. |
Compatibility10
Since Ringtones Pro is made for Windows Phone 7.5 and higher devices, most users can benefit from it, especially because it only needs a standard screen resolution and access to multimedia libraries to function properly. |
