For those who are interested in having their preferred songs play when they receive a call on their Windows Phone handset, there are a few apps that can get the job done and RingtoneMaker is among them.
Simple and easy to use GUI
The looks of this app are not too appealing, as it is bent on practicality and aims to offer ease of use at the expense of some dazzling graphics. The layout is nonetheless very clean and the few functions and commands are kept at hand.
The utility does not adapt to changes in screen orientation and there is no auto scroll during the playback, which are a bit of a letdown because when scaling the track the cursor will go out of view and only a few seconds of the track remain visible.
Straightforward editing and instant saving of ringtones
This application is quite intuitive when it comes to the actual operation, so all you have to do after loading an audio file is pick the beginning and end points and press the "make" button in the main menu shown in the lower side of the screen.
If you want to make the selections with pinpoint accuracy, you can use the "Scale size" function and, by moving the slider to the right, zoom in the track until it expands to the desired level. The playback will always kickoff from the start marker and will stop at the end point you set.
A bit of a bother is the fact that he app doesn't support moving the markers by tapping onto the timeline. Instead, you will have to drag each of them and this is quite annoying when the zoom in level is high.
